Is it supper? or,just early breakfast?

Erm,.... I'm watching Travel channel rite now, Food Tripper Miami shows and it shows the burgers, steaks events in Miami, when suddenly I said to my brother, "do you think what I am thinking rite now?". He gave me a smile and said, "you are craving for burgers, aren't you?". Then we both laugh, and I said to myself, he knew me so well. Yes, I am burger crazy! I enjoy  eating burger too much.

So, we headed to our kitchen and make ourselves burger and fries and hot coffee! And then I said to him, "I hate the shows!". It's 3 am and we are eating burgers! Thanks to First Pride Beef Patties (I don't like patties from Ramly Burger, well, thats just me), the taste is so amazing and it is worth every single cents spent on it (yes, it's more expensive than Ramly). Enjoy the picture guys!

Oh, btw, I am leaving this post with a pray...

Share the laugh,.... pass it on...

Tak kan Melayu hilang di Dunia

Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa...
Everybody is busy talking about this movie.. some might not like it, but a lot that i heard love this movie so much.. I am writing this too,... not because it's the trend rite now (well yes, most bloggers do write about HMM), but this is my first Malay movie (after LBS!), and I think it deserve a BIG applause from all movie lovers!

To be honest, I am limiting myself to only watch the movie played by Lisa Surihani, Que Haidar, Farid Kamil. I actually believe that only these three actors are worth watching (well, that's my personal view, no offense to others, please). Same goes to international movies, where I actually go to watch selected movies only.

But then, when i first heard that KRU is producing HMM movie, my first thought was, is this movie going to be great? Well, to be honest, an epic movie is not as easy to produce. It demands lots of work, researches, not to mention the outfits, the scenes itself,.. and I pray, "Please KRU, make this movie a great one!". Besides all these, its the first movie where I see my friends went and search the history of Merong Mahawangsa! Lets be honest here, me, my brothers, my friends, we are actually either busy reading or collecting books like Twilight, Percy Jackson collection, The Series of Unfortunate Events, LOTR, books written by Nicholas Sparks (some of it are great movies), Harry Potter (I don't have to mention all, here).. but this movie makes you wonder, do you really know the story of Malay bloodlines? Sigh! I am not even sure myself!

I just know that I have to watch this movie. Not only because it's a story of Malay bloodlines, part of it because it was produced by KRU (to be honest). Well, I always admired how Norman (of KRU) have built such empire in the entertainment business. So, last saturday, I went to the cinema to watch HMM and honestly, I FEEL GREAT ABOUT IT!!! It was written so beautiful, and it is amazing! I salute the scriptwriter , both Yusry & Amir Hafizi, for making this movie so great for the viewer. And, I must say, IT WORTH EVERY SINGLE PENNY! The story is simple, understandable, not too carried away with romance between Merong & Embok, The Rome Prince & Chinese Princess, it is straight forward! From the beginning till end, it amazes me over and over again!

Part that I like the most is when Merong said something to the crews / pendekar about going to fight to defend their honor; where everybody, the King, the people, are equals. He asked them to fight, as it is their own fight. Not because he asked them to. Meremang bulu roma masa dengar Merong cakap cam tu...

I can't imagine that a Malay movie can actually create the scenes so beautiful to see (well, its like watching part of Pirates of Carribean produce by a Malay director/producer!), and it makes me wonder, why is there aren't any movie so good, so pure, so beautiful like this has been produce before? How can KRU did this? Is it because they are KRU? Seriously? I can't help to address that by producing this movie, KRU has set a high boundaries to others! Yes, there are parts where digital works required but which movie didn't need that? Hello,... most of international movies were recorded in green screen!

I am going to end this with a quote by late HANG TUAH ~ Takkan Melayu Hilang di Dunia. This is the rise of Malay movie scenes. Thanks to KRU, for making a movie worth watching! Support our local scenes!

AMPHETAMINE (BANDSLAM)

On the seventh hour of the seventh day
The seventh son was looking for a seventh stage get away
The word came down from a blinding light
You got one chance, baby, baby, you better do it right

I was driving down on the 101
It was late at night, and I was thinking 'bout the thing I'd done
All of my regrets, and baby, all of my fears
I was slipping the car from gear to gear to gear

Hey hey hey

God bless the child, God bless his soul
God perish the idea that he'll die before he's old
You gotta be cool, you've got to behave
And there'll be time for that when I'm lying in my grave

You gotta watch your step,or you'll lose your way
Take the heed of your elders and do everything they say
Watch out for the man, the man who tolls the bells
But if I fear for the devil and I fear for myself
Then I'm gonna have to fear for everybody else

Oh yeah, I'm gonna fly (sha la la la la mamma yeah)
I'm gonna live until the day I die
Ain't got time to wonder why
I'm gonna live until the day I die

Berries...berries..berries

How to Pick The Best Berries & Different Ways to Enjoy Them??? Here are the tips...keep on reading and PASS IT ON....

Few other groups are as nutritious and beneficial as fresh berries. Most people, at some point, have faced a huge hurdle trying to maintain a strict weight loss diet. However, many often fail due to the lack of taste in low calorie food. The biggest advantage of berries is that they are high in nutrition and flavor, while remaining relatively low in calories. Most of these fruits are naturally sweet in taste and do not require any additional condiments. Individuals can have them plain or even as salads or smoothies. Another aspect that attracts individuals to these fruits is their attractive colors. These colors are more than just a decorative item, but rather an important ingredient for good health. Berries get their colors from phytochemicals and flavanoids, which are known to help prevent certain types of cancer.

There are several ways in which you can serve berries to enhance taste and provide nutrition. If you want to urge your kids to eat these fruits, you may need to find a unique way to get them to consume them and enjoy them as well. One of the best ways to have these fruits is in the form of a smoothie. You can run these fruits in a blender and serve as a tasty drink, which is also extremely high on the health quotient. Baked products can also use fruits like raspberries to create a delicious dish. You can also make healthy desserts by chopping these fruits and adding some low fat cream or honey to give it a sweeter taste. Even breakfast can be made interesting by adding a generous serving of assorted berries in a bowl of cereal.

There are several health benefits to raspberries. These fruits contain a large amount of Vitamin C, which helps the body strengthen the immune system and, as a result, combat diseases by warding off micro-organisms. Some researchers also believe that berries are useful in curbing cancer due to the presence of flavanoids. They also improve digestion and are an ideal weight loss method as they are low in calories. As you can see, there is no shortage of health benefits when it comes to consuming berries.

Fresh berries are infinitely better than the frozen varieties available at most stores. Frozen fruits often get soggy once they thaw and do not maintain maximum nutritional value. To ensure that the fruit is fresh, you need to ensure that it is firm. Fruits that are full of preservatives can be harmful to your system. While buying berries it is necessary to find details about the available sources in order to find one that is renowned for providing great quality and that is trustworthy. You can judge a source by reading online reviews and testimonials on the available distributors.

STRAWBERRY PRETZEL SALAD

(Picture is for illustration only)

Fast, easy jello recipes (that are delicious to boot) are always a big hit at pot lucks and family gatherings, and this three-layer salad is no exception. You will have people thinking you slaved in the kitchen for hours. This dish doubles as dessert with no one the wiser. Strawberry pretzel salad is best served the next day, so all the ingredients can mesh together properly. Because it is so delicious, you may wish to make a double batch. Rest assured, there will be no leftovers.

This is a very basic recipe. You can play with it in a myriad of ways. For instance, you can add food flavorings to the middle layer that will complement the top layer. If you are shooting for a tropical theme, add coconut flavoring to the filling, and add pineapples to the top level. Top it off with Jell-O's tropical fusion flavor and you are going home with empty pans.

Chocolate frozen whipped topping can be substituted and used in conjunction with strawberry or raspberry topping. Nuts can be added to the base.

Same goes for the top level. Lemon or lime jello with mandarin orange slices is a light, delicious combination. Or you could try using two different flavors of jello, and make the fruit flavor completely unrelated, yet compatible. Maybe one lemon and one lime j jello, and add a mixture of red and white grapes. Let your imagination be your guide. If you are trying something really unique, a test recipe would probably be a good idea.

What You Need:
Base:
  • 2 cups crushed pretzels
  • 3/4 cup butter, melted
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar
Filling:
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 (8 ounce) carton frozen whipped topping, thawed
Topping:
  • 2 (3 ounce) packages strawberry gelatin
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 2 (10 ounce) packages frozen strawberries
How To Make It:
Preheat oven to 400 F.
Combine first three ingredients and press into a 13 x 9 pan (alternately, you may wish to use two cake rounds).
Bake for eight minutes and set aside to cool. Keep a very close eye on the base. Others who have tried this recipe state that under-cooking is not a problem, but overcooking renders the base to a consistency best compared to cement. If your oven is not calibrated, you will be better off setting it a few degrees below the recommended temperature.
As it cools, combine the next three ingredients. Spread over base when it is cool to the touch.
Dissolve the jello into boiling water, and add the strawberries. Pour over the other layers and place in refrigerator overnight. Serves 12.

Note: Overnight is a recommendation. This dish needs at least an hour in the refrigerator before it is ready to be served.

Jello is a blessing to frugal chefs. The price makes it easy to serve in some form with every meal. It is tasty, and incredibly versatile. For more fast and easy, no bake recipes, browse our no bake cheesecake collection.

low carb diet menu to plan your daily meal

Dear bloggers,
Are you on diet today?  Are you eating healthy while dieting? Here are few menus on low carb diet. Have fun!
XOXO, Dylla
(note: these photos are for illustration purpose only. I do not claim any ownership to these photos)
_________________________

Here are some example of a good low carb diet menu. These menus which contain a list of low carbohydrate food can help to keep your weight in a healthy range as well as maintaining the blood sugar levels for people with diabetes.

Low Carb Breakfast
This could be burritos which are made with low carb tortilla, two scrambled eggs in oil or butter. The butter or oil gives excellent taste and the tortilla bread adds to the taste. Burritos are Mexican food made with tortilla bread of wheat flour. The tortilla is folded on the edges with filling inside. The scrambled egg forms the filling in this case. Bean burritos are high in protein and also less amount of saturated fat, thus good for health.

Another option for low-carb breakfast can be frozen blueberries that is thawed along with cereals. Canadian bacon sliced and two pieces, spears of medium asparagus, frozen or even fresh strawberries are various options for a low carb healthy breakfast. The quantities of each of these individual items will vary depending on the food item.

For Lunch
A good quantity of salad is good for health with chicken meat that is well cooked and dressed with Itallian dressing that contains low or no-sugar content. The ingredients that go into making the salad include romaine lettuce that is chopped, mushrooms that is raw, carrot that is shredded, broccoli that is chopped. Lunch with cooked chicken, apple and pecans that are chopped are good for health and tasty. Salads that include lettuce, avocado, chicken meat which is well cooked also form good lunch options.

For Dinner
Brownies or cabbage that is not stuffed are good options for dinner and dessert. Steak that is pan-fried is an ideal and juicy dinner. Peppers and mushrooms simmered in wine and with added herbs for the taste, is another dinner option. Lean beef, olive oil, spinach, coleslaw are ideal dinner items. It is always better to start a low carb diet that one is familiar with. People who are by nature vegetarians have an advantage as the vegetarian food is mostly low carbohydrate content.

For Snacks
A person on low carb diet can have canned peaches and their juices. These have to be sugar-free. Almonds that are whole also form a good snack at tea time. Flax seed can be a good meal as snacks.

keeping kitchen knives sharp

Hi bloggers...
Once again, here are useful tips to share with you. I found it very educational to share with. Perhaps, most of us are not really expose to the usage / the right way to handle knives (after all, not all of us are chef, did we?) As for me, I am lucky enough to have a chef in my family and since I am in the food industry business myself, I knew some of these tips very well. Especially about the using the right knives for the right purposes and the usage of cutting board (thats why my cousin sister bought me the cutting board from Japan...now I know better). Well, read this, perhaps... pass it on....

XOXO, Dylla
(p/s: if you do have extra budget in purchasing a good knives, spend it on the one that do not have a different holder from the cutter; just like the picture attached)
___________________________________________________

A dull kitchen knife is an ineffective one, which means that keeping your blade sharp is crucial. Improper maintenance and lack of care often lead to kitchen knives becoming dull quickly. Here are a few tips for taking care of knives in the kitchen.

Store Your Kitchen Knives Properly
Proper knife storage is one of the major keys for maintaining the sharpness of a kitchen knife. When knives are placed in loose drawers with no protection, they often rub against other knives and utensils, which damage the blade. There are a variety of effective ways to store kitchen knives, but these three options tend to be the best.

The first is a magnetic strip. Knives attached to magnetic strips mounted on the wall don't go through the wear and tear of a drawer. Another way to store knives is in a bag or knife roll, which has specific compartments for each knife. This prevents them from sliding together. The last method is to use a wooden block, but be sure to never slide the blade of the knife up and down the wood when taking it out or putting it in the block.

Use the Right Cutting Board
The cutting board is another culprit in dulling knives. Even though knives, specifically stainless steel knives, are strong, they can be dulled by cutting on extremely hard surfaces. Glass cutting boards, ceramic plates and granite counters should never be used as cutting surfaces, because they can significantly reduce knife sharpness. Instead, use wood or bamboo cutting boards. These models are made out of much softer material, which decreases the wear and tear on knives. Also, using thin, flexible cutting boards, instead of wooden ones, is the most effective and sanitary way to cut food.

Avoid Washing Knives in the Dishwasher
Similar to how tossing knives into open drawers can dull the blade, putting them into dishwashers can also inflict damage. Instead, hand wash knives carefully in the sink and place them in a plastic drying rack away from other silverware. When washing a knife in the sink, try not to drop it or bang it into other utensils. If you are going to use a dishwasher, make sure it has plastic dividers for silverware and that the knife is in a divider by itself.

Use Your Kitchen Knives Appropriately
A surprising number of people use their kitchen knives for things they aren't designed for, like opening cans, unscrewing rivets and opening packages. The simplest way to keep your knife sharp is to only use it for cutting and slicing. Remember to never hack into pieces of food and bone, but gently cut with slight pressure.

Ten Things You Must Have In Your Kitchen

Have you ever wonder what do you have in your kitchen? Or, in fact, what do you actually need in your kitchen? Well, of course, we ladies loves to stock up or purchase things that we rarely use while cooking, :D, (if you know what I mean).... So, here are cool tips on how to save up your money and spend it on other necessary things... erm,..well,.. like shopping! (again?) :D

XOXO, Dylla
_____________________________________________

Ever thought how things were done in olden days? The normal responsibilities that we do everyday would probably be different once we get turned back in time, without the modern equipment and gadgets. Let's take cooking for example. If we can return for hundreds and thousands of years back, food was eaten raw. When fire was discovered, people in the past employed coal, heated stones, dugged-up improvised ovens, and wood. Salt is a primary component in terms of food preservation, and still used up to now. People were capable to extend the wide range of the food that can be eaten when cooked well via cooking.

Let's come back to the present day. With the different non-traditional styles of cooking, there are numerous gadgets that were also invented and introduced in the objective of improving the quality of cooking. Given the abundance of food gadgets and devices, though they all are around TV Shopping or magazines, it's still optional to have them provided that you have the basic items you'll need. Here are several items that will certainly make your kitchen ready to go for almost every dish you need to cook.

Grater: Have you wondered when the grater was invented and introduced? 1540's. Yes, 1540's and this is an item that you would need a ton in your kitchen. It's generally used with cheese, to give your favorite pasta extra spunk. It can also be utilized as a mini food processor as it can also be used for vegetables and fruits.

Bakeware: Same goes with cookware, as cookware sets sometimes include bakeware pieces. You will substantially appreciate aluminum as it can provide even heat distribution due to its heat conductor characteristics and your favorite cakes will certainly look perfect once you take it out from your oven. Make absolutely certain that your bakeware pieces are long-lasting and will make it not hard for you to take out your cookies from the oven without smashing them into pieces.

Mixing Tools: Food processors are perfect for the kitchen especially when it comes with blenders and mixers. Modern processors nowadays are "all-in-one" devices which allows you to do a variety of kitchen functions- from juicing to blending, from mixing, mincing to grinding!

Peeler: There are lots of people who use small and large knives in peeling. But, there's that higher risk of getting injured or harmed. That is why many have opted to use peelers as they keep peeling safe, fast, and easier.

Cutting Mats/Boards: They're excellent when you are slicing your ingredients and utilize them as a funnel when placing the ingredients in a pot or a bowl. It's best to have a cutting mat which is self-healing and can resist punishment from chopping.

Measuring Spoons, Cups: It is ideal that you do accurate measurement of all your ingredients, specially when it will influence the taste of your dish. Guessing the measurement may occasionally vary and make come out as a disaster. You'd prefer to have a correct measure of salt, oils, etc. to ensure that the flavour will be just right.

Pepper Mill: Sometimes, a pinch of salt or a dash of pepper may sufficient. However, it is not for all times! Since 1842, pepper mills happen to be in existence and since that time became a must-have in the kitchen. The different types of materials for salt and pepper mills should be considered. Ceramic grinders are perfect for salts as it doesn't corrode, while stainless steel, zinc alloy and carbon steel is best for pepper.

Spatulas: They're considered as the extension of a person's hand while cooking. Not unless you're numb to turnover or turn food around towards the other side amidst the boiling water or oil, don't you think? There is no kitchen in the world without a spatula as it allows the cook to turn the food appropriately and keep him or her safe.

Knives: One can't simply tear pieces of meat apart or use his/her teeth in sizing up ingredients for cooking. Unless you have them in your kitchen, you will definitely find cooking an issue. It's as important as a weapon of a cop, warrior, or a knight. Good kitchen knives are the secret weapons of cooks and chefs.

Cookware: You simply can't just hold anything up against the fire for apparent reasons, and how is it possible to boil water without cookware? Having cookware is the spine for the kitchen, where everything starts. Make sure you have a good set of cookware - grab the liberty of choosing of the pieces you'd typically use. Heavier cookware means greater heat conduction, but choose something that you'll capable of handle properly, to prevent ending up in spills and hearing the banging sounds on your kitchen floor. Remember to take the main factors in consideration: grip, lids, clean up and weight.

WHOLE GRAIN HONEY WHEAT BREAD WITH CRANBERRIES

What a long name! That's my first thought when I look at the name (My guess; you'll say the same too, :D). But then, I remember when we (me & my brothers) were kids, our mom always made home made bread rather than buying at the supermarket. Kind of miss her home made bread rite now, :< . Well, it might not as great as the bread mentioned below, but still, it's my mom cooking, and I always know that she made it from her heart, with love. Thanks mom!

Still, here is a good recipe worth to share with you guys. So, enjoy!
(p/s: you might want to check my "TIPS" tab to review the food processor guides)

Nothing can compare to freshly baked homemade bread. The intoxicating aroma fills your home as it bakes, hinting at what's to come. The first bite will blow away your taste buds; the nutty background flavor from the whole grains combines beautifully with the sweet honey and tart cranberries. Words fail to properly describe the scrumptious nature of this bread, so you will have to bake it and try it for yourself!

Special Equipment:
You will need a food processor with a dough blade.

Ingredients for one loaf:
2/3 cup milk
1/3 cup water
3 tablespoons butter, cut into chunks
3 tablespoons honey
1 package or 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
3 cups whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 cup dried cranberries, roughly chopped

Directions:
Combine the milk, water, butter and honey in a small saucepan. Heat over a very low flame until warm but not hot. The ideal temperature range is between 105 and 115 degrees F. Do not allow to get any hotter or the heat will kill the yeast. Stir in the yeast until dissolved and set aside.

Position the dough blade in the work bowl of your favorite food processor. Add the whole wheat flour, salt and cranberries. Process for 15 seconds, then use a spatula to scrape the sides of the bowl. Process again, this time until thoroughly mixed, scraping the sides of the bowl if necessary. With the food processor running, slowly add the liquid mixture through the feed tube. Process for about 1 minute; this will knead the dough which will form a slightly sticky ball.

Remove the dough from the food processor and transfer to a greased bowl. Turn over to grease all sides. Cover with a kitchen towel. Let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size. This should take about an hour; the exact time will depend upon the temperature and humidity.
Punch the dough down. Shape into a loaf and put into a greased loaf pan, 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2 inch. Cover and let it rise until doubled in size.

Bake in a pre-heated 375 degree F oven for 30 to 40 minutes. There are a couple of ways to tell if it's done. The most accurate is with an instant read thermometer. You are looking for an internal temperature of 205 to 210 degrees F. If you are without such a device, look for a browned loaf that sounds hollow when tapped.
Cool on a wire rack for at least 20 minutes before eating.

The Best Food Processor for Making Bread
You will need a relatively well powered machine to make bread. An inferior model will struggle when kneading the dough, often leading to complete motor failure. To find the best food processor, check out a detailed buying guide and thousands of customer reviews by visiting FOOD PROCESSOR REVIEWS.

Heather Krasovec, creator of http://food-processor-reviews.net/, uses her extensive experience in food based industries to help consumers make the best choices when stocking their kitchens.
